Check function

• ‒ Pull off hoses from solenoid valve 1 for active carbon canister -N80
  => Installation locations-overview - Page 24-4.
• ‒ Connect auxiliary hose.
• ‒ Start actuator diagnosis and actuate solenoid valve 1 for active carbon canister -N80 .

• The valve should click...

• ‒ If the valve does not click, electrically check the solenoid valve for active carbon canister .

• ...and should open and close (check by blowing into the auxiliary hose).
• When there is no electrical supply, solenoid valve remains closed.

• ‒ If the valve does not open and close correctly, renew solenoid valve for active carbon canister.

Electrically check solenoid valve 1 for activated charcoal filter -N80

• ‒ Withdraw the connector from the valve
  => Installation locations-overview - Page 24-4.
• ‒ → Connect multimeter to valve for resistance measurement

• Specified result: 22...30 ω.

If specified result is not attained:

• ‒ Renew solenoid valve 1 for active carbon canister (N80).

If specified result is attained:

• ‒ → Connect the multimeter for voltage measurement to contact 1 on the connector and to earth.
• ‒ Operate the starter briefly (the engine may also start briefly).

• Specified result: approx. battery voltage.

If specified result is not attained:

• ‒ Check the wiring connections.

If specified result is attained:

• ‒ Connect the V.A.G 1598/22 test box to the wiring harness for the engine control unit.

The following wiring connections should be checked for open circuits and/or short to positive or negative:

• ‒ Rectify short circuit or open circuit if necessary.
