Notes:

• ◆ Engine control unit receives fuel level signal from instrument cluster.
• ◆ The processed signal goes to contact 30 on the engine control unit and is used for determining the cause of certain detected faults (e.g. misfire).

• ‒ Connect test box V.A.G 1598/31 to wiring harness for engine control unit; do not connect the engine control unit .
• ‒ Test for short and open circuit to positive or earth in wiring between instrument cluster and contact 30 on test box.
