-
‒ → Unplug connector -2-.
-
‒ Remove bolt -3-.
-
‒ Pull fuel filter upwards out of bracket and move clear to one side with fuel hoses connected.
-
‒ Unplug 4-pin connector from coolant temperature sender -G62
=> Fitting locations overview Page 23-4.
Note:
Unplugging the connector for coolant temperature sender -G62 simulates the condition of the engine when cold. Therefore when the ignition is switched on, the glow plug system is activated.
-
‒ Pull glow plug connector off glow plug.
-
‒ Connect multimeter (voltage test range) between glow plug connector and engine earth.
-
‒ Switch on ignition.
-
‒ Specification: approx. battery voltage for about 20 seconds
Notes:
-
◆ Glow period warning lamp -K29 should light up during the simulated glow period.
-
◆ If the warning lamp does not light up, test glow period warning lamp -K29 => Page 01-55.
If the specification is not obtained:
-
‒ Check glow plug fuse in electronics box in plenum chamber
If the glow plug fuse is okay:
-
‒ Test glow plug relay=> Page 28-5.
If no fault is found, but the engine takes several seconds to start at very low temperatures:
-
‒ Test glow plugs => Page 28-11.
