Checking intake air temperature sender G42 > < Checking needle lift sender G80
Checking coolant temperature senderG62
Checking coolant temperature sender -G62-
–  Start engine.
–  Read measured value block, Display group 07, engine idling when cold.
–  Check readout in display zone 4 (coolant temperature).
t  Specification: The temperature reading should increase at a uniform rate.
If there is a fault, the fuel temperature (same as in “display zone 1”) will be shown as a substitute value.
If an implausible value is displayed in display zone 4, or if the fuel temperature is displayed as a substitute value:
–  Switch off ignition.
   
–  Unplug connector from coolant temperature sender -G62- ⇒ Fitting locations overview, → Chapter.
–  Connect test adapter -V.A.G 1598/30- or -V.A.G 1598/31- to wiring harness for engine control unit. Do not connect engine control unit.
Test the following wiring connections for open circuits and short to positive or negative.

–  Rectify open circuit or short circuit in wiring as necessary → Current flow diagrams, Electrical fault finding and Fitting locations.
If no faults are found in the wiring:
–  Renew coolant temperature sender -G62-
