Removing and installing steering lock housing > < Removing and installing steering column

Running gear, Front-wheel drive and four-wheel drive
Mechanically adjustable steering column with no column tube
Checking steering column for damage

Visual inspection

  • ‒ Check whether steering column components reveal signs of damage.

Checking operation

  • ‒ Check whether steering column can be turned without catching or stiffness.
  • ‒ Check whether axial position and height of steering column can be adjusted.
  • ‒ → Check for gap -dimension A- between slide and mounting bracket.
  • ‒ If dimension -A- is greater than0.5 mm, steering column is damaged and must be replaced.
