ABS/EDL/TCS Bosch 5.0

Encoding control unit

If a control unit with traction control function (TCS) is replaced, or if the following fault is stored in the fault memory of the control unit....

The control unit must be coded according to the type of engine and gearbox.

Note:

=> Operating instructions V.A.G 1551

◆ The ABS/EDL/TCS control unit with index "N" was additionally introduced as of 05.95 together with automatic gearbox 01V for vehicles with TCS traction control. Alternative control unit codes for automatic gearbox 01V were added accordingly.
◆ Control units with index "N" supplied as replacement parts can be used to replace previous control units with index "M".
◆ Control units with index "M" will no longer be supplied as replacement parts for vehicles prior to 05.95 once existing stocks have been used up.

‒ Connect fault reader V.A.G 1551 and select "Brake electronics" with address word 03 .
‒ Check the control unit version => Page 01-49 and press the ⇒ key.

Notes:

◆ During control unit identification a 3 or 5-digit code must always be displayed.
◆ The control unit must coded as follows if the display does not show the correct code for the vehicle or if a new control unit has been fitted.
