Fault message “dEF” in trip recorder display
Fault message “dEF” in trip recorder display
If the control unit in the instrument cluster detects a fault in its permanent memory, the letters “dEF” will appear in the trip recorder display. If “dEF” is displayed:
–  Renew instrument cluster → Chapter.
Renewing instrument cluster
t  The instrument cluster must not be dismantled.
t  All warning and indicator lamps which have conventional bulbs can be renewed individually → Rep. Gr.90.
t  If required, the instrument cluster can be replaced with an exchange unit.
t  Complete the damage report form and return it together with the defective instrument cluster.
t  Defective units must always be returned in their original packaging.
t  When renewing the instrument cluster, the mileage recorder and service interval display can be adapted using vehicle diagnostic, testing and information system -VAS 5051- → Electrical system, self-diagnosis; Rep. Gr.01.
