Removing and installing steering column switch
Removing and installing steering column switch
Removing
–  Move steering wheel down and to rear as far as possible, making use of full range of steering column adjuster.
–  Remove airbag unit and steering wheel → Rep. Gr.69
   
–  Tilt trim cover -arrow- towards rear.
–  Lift off trim cover on instrument cluster.
  Note
Apply masking tape on steering column trim to avoid damage.

–  Unscrew bolts -1- and detach handle trim -2- on actuator for mechanical steering column adjustment.

–  Unscrew bolts -arrows-.
–  Separate top trim -1- for steering column switch from bottom trim.

–  Unscrew bolts -1- and -2-.
–  Remove bottom trim -3- for steering column switch.
  A69-0073
–  Loosen bolt -3- of clamp until steering column switch -1- can be removed.
–  Unplug electrical connectors -2- and -4- for steering column switch.

Installing
Installation is carried out in the reverse order; note the following:
–  Make sure all electrical connectors are properly engaged.
–  Install bottom trim for steering column switch.
–  Fit steering wheel on steering column.
–  Measure distance -a- between steering wheel -3- and steering column switch -2-.
l  Dimension -a- = 5 mm.
–  If dimension -a- is not OK, alter position of steering column switch with bottom trim on steering column.
–  If dimension -a- is OK, tighten bolt -1-.
–  Insert top trim for steering column switch in hooks for bottom trim, press both sections together and tighten bolts.
–  Install steering wheel and airbag unit → Rep. Gr.69.
–  Initiate basic setting for steering angle sender -G85- → Running Gear, self-diagnosis; Rep. Gr.01.
