Sequence of operations
l  Vehicle diagnostic, testing and information system -VAS 5051B- connected and vehicle self-diagnosis selected → Chapter
l  Ignition on
Display on -VAS 5051B-:
–  From list -1- select vehicle system “17 - Dash panel insert”.
  Note
As the immobilizer is integrated into the dash panel insert, vehicle system “17 - Dash panel insert” must be used.
–  Wait until next display appears.

Display on -VAS 5051B-:
1 - Control unit identification of dash panel insert → Anchor (up to Model Year 1999) or → Anchor (as of Model Year 2000)
2 - Control unit identification of immobilizer
  A01-0121
Immobilizer control unit identification (example)
Immobilizer ident. no.14-position immobilizer identification number

All other functions displayed cannot be selected or can be ignored in this case.
Fault messages on -VAS 5051B-
If a fault message appears on the display, refer to → Operating instructions of vehicle diagnostic, testing and information systemVAS 5051B.
   
If display zone -1- shows the fault message “Vehicle system not available”:
–  Check:
t  Power supply to diagnostic connection → Current flow diagrams, Electrical fault finding and Fitting locations
t  Wiring between diagnostic connection and dash panel insert → Current flow diagrams, Electrical fault finding and Fitting locations
