Matching following replacement of dash panel insert and engine control unit t  If the dash panel insert and the engine control unit have been simultaneously destroyed by overvoltage for example, and if the immobilizer identification number can no longer be read out, all vehicle keys must additionally be replaced on replacing the dash panel insert and engine control unit. t  Reason: Following matching to the immobilizer, the old keys are interlocked and can no longer be matched to a different immobilizer. t  The immobilizer in the new dash panel insert has a different arithmetic rule for the variable code. On matching, this new arithmetic rule is written into the engine control unit and simultaneously into the transponder of the new vehicle keys. The keys are then interlocked.   Note The replacement of all vehicle keys is not necessary if the immobilizer identification number can still be read out from one of the two control units to be replaced. In this case the control units are to be replaced consecutively. –  Touch the Finished key. –  Then match all vehicle keys → Chapter. The dash panel insert, engine control unit and vehicle keys have now been matched and the vehicle can be started.

Fault messages on -VAS 5051B- If display zone -1- indicates the fault message “System not OK” on transfer of the vehicle ident. number, the tuning protection category of the engine control unit to be matched is not correct. A distinction is made between 3 classes: 1 -  Petrol, TDI and turbo engines without tuning protection 2 -  Petrol, TDI and turbo engines with tuning protection 3 -  Special turbo engines –  Check whether the correct engine control unit has been fitted → Parts catalogue.
