Adaption channel 02 - Service interval display reset on completion of service
t  The service interval display is designed to remind drivers that service is due. The messages appear on the centre display.
t  The service prompt appears as of 1 month or 2000 km before service is due. Example: “SERVICE IN 2000 KM” is displayed after a total mileage of 13000 km.
t  The remaining mileage prior to service can be interrogated by way of the menu in the centre display by pressing the time setting button once.
t  If service is due, the corresponding message appears in the centre display for 5 seconds after switching on the ignition. It appears after the automatic gearbox information and any navigation system destination input. Display: “SERVICE!”.
t  Applicable specifications → Booklet802.
t  The “adaption channels 40, 41, 46, 47, 48” used to display the dynamic service values are automatically set to “0”.

1 - Enter channel number
–  On the keypad -2-, touch key 2 for “Adaption channel 02” and confirm the entry by touching the Q key.

  Note
t  “SERVICE IN 15000 KM” is displayed in the dash panel insert.
t  15000 km is the starting value for the service interval display. Conversion to higher mileage (e.g. 30000 km for petrol engines) only takes place when the vehicle is driven.
–  Check the service specifications in “measured value blocks 013 … 016” → Anchor.

Adaption channel 03 - Correction of fuel consumption indicator characteristic curve
On vehicles with driver information system (DIS), this function can be used to correct the characteristic curve of the fuel consumption indicator if the display in the dash panel insert does not correspond to the actual fuel consumption.
Display on -VAS 5051B-:
1 - Enter channel number
–  On the keypad -2-, touch key 3 for “Adaption channel 03” and confirm the entry by touching the Q key.

  Note
t  The value “100” is the factory-set mean characteristic curve of the fuel consumption indicator.
t  The characteristic curve can be altered in the range 85 … 115 %; entries must be made in 5 % steps.
t  On dash panel insert replacement → Chapter.
–  Use the bar to alter the adaption value ⇒ “A - Altering adaption value by way of bar” → Anchor.
Or
–  Alter the adaption value by means of direct entry ⇒ “B - Altering adaption value by means of direct entry” → Anchor.

The fault message “Function unknown or cannot be implemented at present” appears if an implausible value is entered.

Adaption channel 09 - Mileage counter reading
This function is used to adapt the mileage counter reading on replacing the dash panel insert.
  Note
t  Adaption is only possible for dash panel inserts with a mileage reading of up to max. 100 km.
t  Adaption can only be performed once for a given dash panel insert.
t  It is only possible to enter a higher adaption value (above 100 km).
t  Up to Model Year 2001: Once confirmed, incorrect entries cannot be corrected. The dash panel insert must then be replaced.
t  As of Model Year 2002: Incorrect entries can be corrected until a distance of 5 km has been covered once following the first change.
t  Adaption is performed in miles in countries with a speedometer display in miles.
