Removing and installing lock carrier with attachments |

q | Removing: |
q | Remove bumper → Chapter. |
q | Remove noise insulation → Chapter. |
q | Disengage Bowden cable for bonnet lock → Chapter. |
q | Detach engine cover panels -2- and -3-. |
q | Unscrew air duct between lock carrier and air cleaner at lock carrier. |
q | Unplug electrical connectors. |
q | Drain coolant and disconnect coolant pipes → Fig. and → Fig.. |
q | Only detach condenser from radiator (do not disconnect any pipes). |
q | Secure air conditioner condenser to front wheel using wire or similar → Heating, air conditioning; Rep. gr. 87. |
Note
The condenser must not be suspended by its pipes. The condenser pipes must NOT be bent or kinked. |
q | Disconnect hoses to hydraulic fluid cooler → Fig.. |
q | Remove hydraulic fluid cooler → Steering; Rep. gr.48. |
Note
The hydraulic fluid cooler pipes must NOT be bent or kinked. |
q | Vehicles with automatic gearbox: Disconnect lines to ATF cooler → Controls, housing; Rep. gr.37. |
q | Vehicles with charge air cooler: Pull off hose for air duct system. |
q | Detach bonnet seals (left and right) at joint between wing and lock carrier -1-. |
q | Remove bolts -5-. |
q | A second mechanic is required to hold lock carrier -1-. |
q | Remove bolts -4-. |
q | Detach lock carrier towards front. |
q | Installing: |
q | Install in reverse order. |
q | Headlights must be re-adjusted. |
q | Adjusting: |
q | Lock carrier -1- must be positioned centrally between wings. |
q | If wings and bonnet are also being renewed, these must first be centrally aligned with one another. |
