Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Vehicle diagnostic tester
–  Remove seat bench (rear): vehicles up to 10.2004 → Chapter, vehicles from 11.2004 onwards → Chapter.
  Note
Left and right side airbags can only be deactivated together. Side airbags cannot be deactivated separately.
A plug connector is fitted on each side at C-pillar (left and right).
   
–  Press retaining tab -2- and unplug connector -1- in direction of -arrow-.
–  Secure loose connectors with cable ties.
Vehicles with no curtain airbag from model year 2003 onwards
–  Remove sill/pillar trim (rear) → Chapter.
–  Unplug crash sensor connector at C-pillar → Chapter.
–  Install sill/pillar trim (rear) → Chapter.
–  Install rear seat bench.
