Removing and installing exhaust manifold

Removing

–	Remove turbocharger:

t	Engine codes AVB, AVF, AWX, BKE → Chapter.

t	Engine codes BPW, BRB, BRC → Chapter

Vehicles up to 05.2003:

–	Remove connecting pipe for exhaust gas recirculation -arrows-.

All vehicles:

–	Detach heat shield from exhaust manifold -arrows-.

–	Remove oil supply pipe bracket from exhaust manifold.

Vehicles with engine codes BPW, BRB, BRC:

–	Unscrew exhaust temperature sender 1-item 1- from exhaust manifold.

All vehicles:

–	Unscrew all nuts -arrows- on exhaust manifold.

–	Detach exhaust manifold.

Installing

Installation is carried out in the reverse order; note the following:

Renew gaskets and self-locking nuts.

–	Install turbocharger:

t	Engine codes AVB, AVF, AWX, BKE → Chapter.

t	Engine codes BPW, BRB, BRC → Chapter

Tightening torques

Component

Exhaust manifold to cylinder head

25 ¹⁾

Exhaust gas temperature sender 1 -G235- to exhaust manifold

Heat shield to exhaust manifold

Connecting pipe to:

Exhaust manifold

25 ¹⁾

Intake manifold

l	¹⁾ Renew self-locking nuts.
