Special tools and workshop equipment required
   
t  Crankshaft stop -T10050- for engines with circular crankshaft sprocket

t  Crankshaft stop -T10100- for engines with oval crankshaft sprocket

Procedure
–  Move lock carrier to service position → Chapter.
–  Remove poly V-belt → Chapter.
–  Release tensioner for poly V-belt.
–  Remove top toothed belt cover by releasing retaining clips -arrows-.

–  Lever off cover cap from vibration damper.
–  Unbolt vibration damper; counterhold on centre bolt with ring spanner.

–  Unscrew bolts -arrows- for toothed belt cover (centre and bottom) and detach both parts.
  Caution
The engine must only be turned at the crankshaft, in the direction of normal engine rotation (clockwise).
–  Turn the crankshaft to TDC.

–  Lock crankshaft sprocket using crankshaft stop -T10050- for engines with circular crankshaft sprocket, or crankshaft stop -T10100- for engines with oval crankshaft sprocket.
l  The markings on the toothed belt sprocket and the crankshaft stop must align -arrow-. The lug of the crankshaft stop must engage in the bore in the sealing flange.
  Note
The crankshaft stop can only be pushed onto the sprocket from the front face of the teeth.
Installation is carried out in the reverse order; note the following:
–  Install vibration damper → Chapter.
–  Install poly V-belt → Chapter.
–  Install lock carrier with attachments → Rep. Gr.50.

–  Allow stop for torque reaction support to rest on rubber buffer for torque reaction support under its own weight and tighten nuts -arrows-.
–  Install bumper cover (front) → Rep. Gr.63.
