Removing and installing cylinder head cover (right-side) Special tools and workshop equipment required

t  Puller -T40039-

Removing –  Pull off engine cover panel (rear) -arrows-.

–  Remove bolts -arrows-. –  Remove air ducts -1- and -2-.

Rest-of-world vehicles: –  Detach vacuum line -2- at air intake hose. –  Disconnect hose -4- for crankcase breather system from air hose by pressing release tabs. –  Open hose clips -1- and -3- and disconnect air intake hose. USA models: –  Detach vacuum line -2- from air intake hose. –  Open hose clips -1- and -3- and move air intake hose to one side.   Caution Do not open hose connection -4- on USA models.

All vehicles (continued): –  Unplug electrical connector -3- at air mass meter -G70-. –  Disconnect hose -1- for secondary air pump by pressing release tabs. –  Detach air intake hose -4- at air mass meter. –  Move wiring harness -2- clear at air cleaner housing. –  Unscrew bolts -arrows- and detach air cleaner (top section).

–  Unscrew bolts -3- and -6- at cylinder head (right-side). –  Unplug electrical connectors -1, 4, 5, 7, 8, 9-. –  Disconnect crankshaft breather hose -2- by pressing release tabs.

–  Pull ignition coils out with puller -T40039-.

–  Unscrew cylinder head cover bolts (right-side) in the sequence -16 ... 1-. –  Remove cylinder head cover. Installing Installation is carried out in the reverse order; note the following:   Note t  Renew cylinder head cover gaskets if damaged. t  Renew cylinder head cover bolts if gasket is damaged. t  Secure all hose connections with the correct type of hose clips (same as original equipment) → Electronic parts catalogue. –  Clean sealing surfaces; they must be free of oil and grease. –  Tighten bolts for cylinder head cover to final setting in the sequence -1 ... 16-. Tightening torques
