Dismantling triple roller joint
Dismantling triple roller joint
–  Clamp drive shaft in vice.
Use jaw protectors.
–  Open hose clip at joint and push back boot.
   
–  Using flat-bladed screwdriver, bend open metal tabs and pry off cover.

–  Mark positions of parts 1 ... 3 in relation to each other before dismantling.
The joint may be noisy if these parts are not marked and reinstalled in their original positions.
Use a waterproof felt-tip pen for marking.
1 - Joint body
2 - Triple roller spider
3 - Drive shaft
–  Remove O-ring -arrow- from groove.
–  Hold joint body and take drive shaft out of vice.

–  Remove circlip from triple roller spider/drive shaft.
1 - Circlip pliers (normal commercial type)
–  If boot is damaged, remove it using scissors or similar. Otherwise fold it back carefully.
–  Insert drive shaft in press.
  A40-0545
–  Hold drive shaft, then press triple roller spider off drive shaft.
Make sure rollers are free when pressing off.
–  Remove triple roller spider with rollers and place on a clean surface.
–  Pull joint body off drive shaft.
–  Pull boot off drive shaft.
–  Clean drive shaft, joint body and groove for seal.
