Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Torque wrench -V.A.G 1332-
  Note
t  The nut securing the transverse link to the subframe must be renewed if it is damaged. Only use the correct nut listed in the Parts catalogue when performing repairs.
   
t  Due to the inaccessibility of the inner bolt -1- when the vehicle is standing on wheels, the transverse link can only be removed after the subframe has been removed.
t  Check and adjust wheel alignment after completing repair → Chapter.
Removing
–  Remove subframe → Chapter.
–  Detach bolt connection -1-.
–  Pivot transverse link upwards out of take-up bracket on subframe.
  Note
Take care not to damage transverse link when screwing in socket head bolt.

–  Screw in a hexagon socket head bolt M12×1.5 x 20 (Part No. N902 268 01) or similar -1- into nut -2- as far as the stop.
A hexagon bolt M12×1.5 x 20 can also be used as an alternative.
–  Keep turning socket head bolt until damaged nut is screwed out of take-up bracket on subframe.
Installing
  Note
Renew bolts and self-locking nuts ⇒ instructions in exploded views from → Chapter onwards.
–  Insert transverse link in take-up bracket on subframe.
  A42-0342
–  Install replacement nut -2- in take-up bracket on subframe by pulling it in using a new bolt with washer -1-.
–  Tighten bolt with washer -1- → Item.
–  Install subframe → Chapter.
–  Check and adjust wheel alignment → Chapter.
Wheel alignment must always be checked and adjusted if necessary using VW/Audi-approved equipment.
