On-screen fault messages
On-screen fault messages
In the event of a system fault, the fault is stored in fault memory and/or fault message appears on display of operating electronics control unit for navigation -J402-.
Indicated on display:
   
RDS TMC tuner:
Problem with RDS TMC
tuner link or link could
not be established

This fault message occurs in the following situations:
t  No CAN communication or CAN communication problems between operating electronics control unit for navigation -J402- and navigation interface -R94- (open circuit in wiring or wiring not connected).
t  Navigation interface -R94- defective.
If this fault occurs, RDS TMC traffic information cannot be received and the “traffic jam function” menu cannot be called up.
Indicated on display:
   
Dynamic navigation:
No telephone response
Dynamic function only available
with ignition switched on.

This fault message occurs in the following situations:
t  No CAN communication or CAN communication problems between operating electronics control unit for navigation -J402- and telephone/telematics control unit -J256- (open circuit in wiring or wire not connected).
t  Telephone/telematics control unit -J256- defective.
t  Terminal 15 OFF (ignition switched off).
If this fault occurs, TMC traffic information cannot be received via telephone. Dynamic navigation is not possible and “traffic jam function” settings menu cannot be called up.

Problem with logbook link
Journeys not stored
Record journeys manually
Confirm with RETURN.

This fault message occurs in the following situations:
t  No CAN communication or CAN communication problems between operating electronics control unit for navigation -J402- and chip card reader unit -R99- (electronic logbook).
t  Chip card reader unit -R99- not connected or defective.
If this fault occurs, no data from the chip card reader unit -R99- can be transferred to the operating electronics control unit for navigation -J402- and no data can be processed by the chip card.
Indicated on display:
   
LOGBOOK
Logbook not active.
Activate on PC.
Record journeys manually.

This message appears:
t  If, after taking delivery of vehicle, the chip card for electronic logbook has not been activated on a PC.
t  This message on navigation system display does not indicate a fault.
Inform the customer accordingly.
Indicated on display:
   
CD unsuitable.
Insert CD-ROM
for TravelPilot DX.

This message appears:
t  If no version DX navigation CD has been inserted.
–  Insert navigation CD with DX logo.
Inform the customer accordingly.
Fault messages are displayed until faults have been rectified or confirmation has been provided by pressing the RETURN button.
