  WARNING
Disconnect the battery earth cable before working on the electrical system.
On vehicles fitted with telematics system, activate the service mode for the telephone/telematics control unit -J526- before disconnecting battery -A- → Chapter.
When re-connecting battery -A-, always adhere to correct sequence for connecting and disconnecting battery -A- → Electrical System; Rep. Gr.27. Deactivate the service mode for telephone/telematics control unit -J526- → Chapter.
Description
The navigation system BNS 4.0 (Nav IV) is an enhanced version of existing navigation system III.
Key innovations include, for example a link with the CAN Bus (Infotainment) and dynamic navigation.
The system obtains dynamic navigation information from the TMC function of the radio -R- or via the telephone transmitter and receiver unit -R36-.
The system comprises:
t  Function selection switch 2 -E272-
t  Instrument cluster (display unit)
t  Control unit for navigation system with CD drive -J401-
t  Aerial for navigation system -R50-
Fault finding is performed via the “Guided Fault Finding” → Vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system VAS 5051.
Aerial wire repairs → Electrical system; Rep. Gr.97.
CAN bus wire repairs → Electrical system; Rep. Gr.97.
