Vehicles with 2.0 ltr. TFSI engine > < Removing and installing starter

A4 Mk2

Vehicles with 1.6 ltr., 1.8 ltr. turbo, 2.0 ltr. MPI and 2.0 ltr. FSI engine
Vehicles with 1.6 ltr., 1.8 ltr. turbo, 2.0 ltr. MPI and 2.0 ltr. FSI engine
   
Removing
–  With ignition switched off, disconnect earth cable at battery → Chapter.
–  On vehicles with auxiliary heater, unscrew bolts -arrows- for exhaust pipe of auxiliary/supplementary heater at noise insulation.

–  Unfasten bolts/quick release fasteners -1- and -2- and detach noise insulation (front).

–  Unscrew wire for terminal B+ -item 2-.
–  Unplug electrical connector for terminal 50 -item 1-.
–  If fitted, detach insulator at positive connection for starter.
–  Unbolt wiring clamp -4-.
–  Unscrew bracket for starter at cylinder block -3- and starter.

–  Unscrew bolts -1- and -2-.
–  Guide starter downwards and remove.
Installing
Installation is carried out in the reverse order; note the following:
–  Connect the battery. Additional steps required → Anchor.
