Removing and installing brake light sensor
Removing and installing brake light sensor
  Note
t  The brake light sensor can be re-used after it has been removed.
t  The brake light sensor is self-adapting. Calibration is not required after installing the sensor.
Removing
   
–  Remove driver's storage compartment -1 ... 3-.

–  Unplug electrical connector on footwell vent -C-.
–  Remove footwell vent -A-B-.
–  Unplug electrical connector on brake light sensor.

  Note
If possible, stop -17- on brake pedal must always be left installed; otherwise mounting for brake light sensor -10- could break off if brake pedal is released too abruptly.
–  Press plunger of brake light sensor -10- fully in with one finger.
–  With plunger still pressed in, turn coloured catch on brake light sensor fully anti-clockwise to release sensor.
  Note
Keep the plunger pressed in while releasing the brake light sensor.
–  Let go of plunger after releasing brake light sensor.
–  Insert release tool -T40168- between brake pedal and plunger of brake light sensor.
The tapered part of the special tool must face towards the driver's seat. The slot on the special tool must correspond with the recess on the brake light sensor.
–  Press release tool -T40168- against brake light sensor. This releases the three retaining tabs on the brake light sensor.
–  Pull brake light sensor out of its mounting.
Installing
  Note
Stop -17- on brake pedal must always be fitted, otherwise there is a risk that mounting for brake light sensor -10- can break off when brake pedal is released.
   

  Note
t  The plunger adjusts itself automatically when the brake light sensor is inserted.
t  The brake pedal must remain in the normal position during installation and must not be depressed.
t  The brake pedal must be connected to the brake servo.
–  Fit brake light sensor in mounting on brake pedal and press in lightly.
  Note
t  All three retaining tabs on the brake light sensor must engage audibly.
t  The switch must not be rotated in the mounting on the brake pedal.
t  The plunger adjusts itself automatically when the brake light sensor is inserted.
–  Turn coloured catch on brake light sensor fully clockwise to secure sensor.
–  Plug in electrical connection for brake light sensor.
   
–  Install footwell vent -A-B-.
–  Tighten bolt securing footwell vent -A-.

–  Attach electrical connector to footwell vent -C-.
–  Install driver's storage compartment -1 ... 3-.
After installing the brake light sensor, check the function of the sensor before driving the vehicle.
