Special tools and workshop equipment required
   
t  Hose clamps for hoses up to 25 mm -3094-
  W00-0079
t  Hose clip pliers -V.A.G 1921-
Removing
  W00-0464
–  Remove engine cover panel -arrows-.
  A10-11050
–  Open hose clips -arrows- and detach air hose.
  WARNING
Hot steam/hot coolant can escape - risk of scalding.
The cooling system is under pressure when the engine is hot.
Cover filler cap on coolant expansion tank with a cloth and open carefully to dissipate pressure.

–  Clamp off coolant hoses with hose clamps up to 25 mm -3094- as shown in illustration.
–  Detach coolant hoses -2- and -3-.
–  Unplug electrical connector -4-.
–  Unscrew bolt -1- and remove pump for exhaust gas recirculation cooler -V400- with bracket.
–  Detach pump for exhaust gas recirculation cooler from bracket.
Installing
Install in reverse order. Note the following:
  Note
t  Hose connections and air pipes and hoses must be free of oil and grease before assembly.
t  Secure all hose connections with the correct type of hose clips (same as original equipment) → Electronic parts catalogue.
t  To secure the air hoses at their connections, spray rust remover onto the worm thread of the used hose clips before installing.
–  Fill up with coolant → Chapter.
