Procedure
l  Engine oil temperature min. 30 °C.
l  Battery voltage at least 12.5 V.
–  Remove all ignition coils → Rep. gr.28.

–  Unplug electrical connector -2- for injectors at rear of cylinder head (left-side).
  Note
Disregard -items 1, 3-.

–  Unplug electrical connector -2- for injectors at rear of cylinder head (right-side).
  Note
Disregard -items 1, 3-.
–  Remove spark plugs with spark plug socket and extension -3122 B-.
–  Check compression pressure with compression tester -V.A.G 1763-.
  Note
Using the compression tester → Operating instructions.
–  Have a 2nd mechanic press down the accelerator pedal completely and at the same time operate the starter until the pressure on the tester display no longer increases.
–  Repeat procedure on each cylinder.

Assembling
Installation is carried out in the reverse order; note the following:
–  Install spark plugs → Booklet811, → Booklet812 or → Booklet818.
–  Entries are stored in the event memory of the engine control unit because electrical connectors have been unplugged and the engine started: Generate readiness code in Guided Functions → Vehicle diagnostic tester.
