Removing and installing high-pressure pump > < High-pressure pump

  WARNING
Fuel system operates under high pressure. Always dissipate fuel pressure prior to opening fuel system. For procedure, refer to → Chapter
   
1 - Fuel supply line from tank
2 - Bolt for high-pressure pump
q   Hand-tighten in diagonal sequence, then tighten to 5 Nm and finally tighten to 20 Nm
q   Do not tilt high-pressure pump
3 - High-pressure pump
q   An electric fuel pump (fitted in fuel tank) supplies fuel to the mechanical high-pressure pump
q   When installing the high-pressure fuel pump, it is essential to ensure that no dirt enters the fuel system.
q   The fuel system must not be under pressure when installing the high-pressure pump; procedure for reducing fuel pressure → Chapter
q   Fuel lines must be free of tension when installed.
q   Removing and installing → Chapter
4 - O-ring
q   Renew
5 - Roller tappet
q   May remain lodged in vacuum pump when high-pressure pump is removed
6 - Connecting piece
q   Not available as replacement part, part of high-pressure pump
q   Do not loosen
7 - Adapter
q   An adapter may be fitted between connecting piece and fuel supply line on some versions
q   If fitted, adapter must be renewed; refer to → Electronic parts catalogue
q   40 Nm
8 - High-pressure fuel line
q   Fuel line must be free of tension when installed.
q   20 Nm
9 - Bolt for high-pressure pump
q   Hand-tighten in diagonal sequence, then tighten to 5 Nm and finally tighten to 20 Nm
q   Do not tilt high-pressure pump
10 - Connecting piece for fuel supply line at fuel rail
q   Renew
q   40 Nm
11 - Fuel rail
q   Removing and installing → Chapter
