| Detach glow plug connectors from glow plugs. |

| Clean glow plug openings in cylinder head; make sure no dirt gets into cylinder. |
Note t
| Use a vacuum cleaner to remove coarse dirt. |

| Spray brake cleaner or suitable cleaning agent into glow plug openings, let it work in briefly, and blow out with compressed air. |

| Then clean the glow plug openings using a cloth moistened with oil. |

| To loosen glow plugs 1, 3, 4 and 6, use U/J extension and socket, 10 mm -3220-. |

| To loosen glow plugs 2 and 5, use socket insert AF 12 for glow plugs 4-cyl.TDI CR diesel -VAS 6454-. |

| Fit glow plugs carefully by hand or using a suitable hose. Keep the glow plugs straight while screwing them back in. |

| To tighten glow plugs, use U/J extension and socket, 10 mm -3220- / socket insert AF 12 for glow plugs 4-cyl.TDI CR diesel -VAS 6454- and a suitable torque wrench. |

| Tightening torque: 17 Nm |

| Attach glow plug connectors correctly and make sure connectors are securely fitted. |

| Install any ancillary units that were previously detached. |

| Tightening torque for intake manifold flap motor: refer to exploded view of intake manifold → Chapter. |
