Control Module: Service and Repair
Transmission Control Module, Replacing
‹› To achieve optimal anti-theft protection for the vehicle, an anti-theft immobilizer was installed. The anti-theft immobilizer is a system for
enabling/locking the Transmission Control Module (TCM) (J217).
‹› To perform adaptation of the anti-theft immobilizer.
Procedure
Check the identification of the previous Transmission Control Module (TCM) (J217) as follows:

Connect the scan tool.

Switch the ignition on.
-
Select "Diagnostic mode 9: Vehicle information."

Select the"Test-ID 04: Calibration identification".
-
The Transmission Control Module (TCM) (J217) identification will be displayed, e.g.: 09G27750 L 0301
-
End diagnosis and switch the ignition off.

Replace the Mechatronic unit in the transmission. Refer to Automatic Transmission Repair Information.
After installing new Transmission Control Module (TCM), the following work steps must be performed:

The New Transmission Control Module (TCM) (J217 ) must be activated.
Final procedures

2. If necessary, erase DTC memory of the Transmission Control Module (TCM) (J217). => [ Diagnostic Mode 04 - Erase DTC Memory ] See:

End of diagnosis
