Steering Mounted Controls Communication Module: Removal and Replacement
Steering Column Switch Module (SCSM), Removing And Installing
Removing

Remove driver-side storage compartment:

Remove airbag unit and steering wheel:

Completely pull out steering wheel with the adjustment mechanism and move (adjust) downward.

Remove Torx bolts -3- and -5- as well as the hex socket bolt -4-.

Separate top trim -2- for steering column switches from bottom trim -1- and remove both parts.

Fold upper trim to instrument cluster and remove lower trim.
To install, insert top trim piece into catches of bottom trim piece, press together and bolt.
NOTE: Wheels must be in straight-ahead position when removing or installing return ring with slip ring.

Disconnect harness connector -1-.

Carefully release catch -arrows- and pull return ring with slip ring from steering column switch module (SCSM).

Remove bolt -1-.

Disengage electrical wire for induction coil at steering column switch -arrows-.

Disconnect electrical harness connector -2-.
-
Carefully pull off steering column switch together with Steering Column Electronic Systems Control Module.
