Rear flange shaft seal, replacing

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

‹› Pressure plate (VW 401)

‹› Pressure plate (VW 402)

‹› Thrust pad (VW 447 i)

‹› Punch (VW 409)

‹› Pressure application device (T10136)

Procedure

-

Remove self-locking center differential cover. Refer to => [ Self-Locking Center Differential Cover ] See: Transfer Case/Transfer Case
Cover/Service and Repair.

-

Remove circlip - arrow - on inner side of cover. 

‹› The circlip secures the flange shaft to the bearing in the cover.

-

Press flange shaft out of self-locking center differential cover with Punch (VW 409) by placing cover on Pressure Plate (VW 401) and Pressure
Plate (VW 402).
