Shift Interlock Cable: Service and Repair
09L, 6 Speed AWD A/T

Locking cable, removing and installing - 09L, 6 Speed AWD A/T

Removing

Note:  The locking cable must not be bent or kinked.

Shift selector lever to position "S".

CAUTION!  Follow steps required when disconnecting battery.

With ignition switched off, disconnect battery Ground (GND) strap.

Remove storage compartment on drivers side.

-

Remove steering column cover.

-

Remove A/C control console.

-

Remove ashtray from center console.

-

Remove selector mechanism cover.

-

Turn ignition key to "ignition on" position.

-

Shift selector lever to position "P".

1 - Locking cable

-

Lift up retaining clip - 2 - on locking device and pull locking rod - 1 - off starter switch.

-

Lift up locking cable securing spring - 4 -. Pull locking cable support bracket - 5 - sideways off selector mechanism, then disengage locking cable
eye.
