Self-Locking Center Differential, Transmission Installed

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

‹› Drip Tray (V.A.G 1306) 

‹› Torque Wrench (V.A.G 1331)

Removing

-

Disconnect exhaust system at double clamps - arrows -. 

‹› Flex joint in front exhaust pipe must not be bent more than 10°, otherwise it may be damaged.

‹› The exhaust system with the 3.0L V6 gasoline engine is shown in the illustration.

Disengage rear part of exhaust system at retaining loops and remove. 

‹› A second technician is needed to remove the rear section of the exhaust system.

Remove the driveshaft heat shield - arrows -, where applicable.

Remove exhaust system heat shield - 1 - below shift mechanism - arrows -.
