‹› Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System ( VAS 5051B)

Procedure

CAUTION!
‹› Follow the safety precautions for pyrotechnic components. Refer to => [ Restraint System Components Safety Precautions ] See:

Restraint Systems/Service Precautions.

‹› Observe additional safety precautions for side airbag. Refer to => [ Side Airbag Additional Safety Precautions ] See: Restraint

Systems/Service Precautions.

‹› Follow the disposal regulations for pyrotechnic components. Refer to => [ Restraint System Component Disposal ] See: Restraint

Systems/Service Precautions.

Switch the ignition on.

Disconnect the battery ground cable with the ignition switched on.

Remove the rear bench seat. Refer to => [ Bench Seat ] See: Seats/Service and Repair/Overhaul/Rear Seats.

CAUTION!
Before handling pyrotechnic components (for example, connecting the electrical connector), the person handling it must "discharge static
electricity". This can be done by touching door striker, for example. 

‹› Rear left and right side airbags can we switched on individually.

‹› There is a connector under the seat bench on the left and right side.

Insert side airbag connector - 1 -.

‹› Ensure that electrical connections are pushed in as far as stop and engage with a click.

‹› Ensure wires are not pinched.

Install the seat bench. Refer to => [ Bench Seat ] See: Seats/Service and Repair/Overhaul/Rear Seats. 

CAUTION!
Ignition must be on when connecting battery. If pyrotechnic components (for example, airbag, belt tensioner) are not repaired correctly,
