Backrest Adjustment Motor

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

‹› Locking compound fluid (D 000 600 A2)

Removing

CAUTION!
‹› Follow the safety precautions for pyrotechnic components. Refer to => [ Restraint System Components Safety Precautions ] See:

‹› Before handling airbag units (for example, disconnecting electrical connector), the person handling it must "discharge static

electricity ". This can be done by touching door striker, for example.

Remove front seat:

‹› Standard and Sport Power Seat, Comfort Seat and Super Sport Seat. Refer to => [ Power Standard Front Seats ].

Attach front seat to Fixture For Seat Repair ( VAS 6136). Refer to => [ Front Seat, Installing on VAS 6136 ] See: Service and Repair/Removal
and Replacement/Seat Versions Overview.

Remove the tunnel side trim => [ Tunnel Side Trim ] See: Service and Repair/Removal and Replacement/Manual Standard Front Seats and sill
side trim => [ Sill Side Trim ] See: Service and Repair/Removal and Replacement/Manual Standard Front Seats.

Remove backrest panel:

‹› Two section backrest cover. Refer to => [ Backrest Cover, Version 1 ] See: Service and Repair/Removal and Replacement/Manual Standard Front

Seats. 

‹› One section backrest cover. Refer to => [ Backrest Cover, Version 2 ] See: Service and Repair/Removal and Replacement/Manual Standard Front

Seats.

Mark the angle adjustment of the left and right backrest mounting brackets on the seat as follows:

-

Make a permanent mark (line) - arrow B - on the backrest frame - 2 - right at the front edge - arrow A - of the anchor - 1 -.

CAUTION!
Do not damage the surface of the anchor when marking it by scratching or denting it.

Remove the nut - 4 - from the shaft - 3 -.
