Front Backrest

‹› Removal and installation is described on a standard driver seat. It is similar on the passenger seat and on other seat versions.

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

‹› Trim removal wedge (3409)

Removing

CAUTION!
‹› Follow the safety precautions for pyrotechnic components. Refer to => [ Restraint System Components Safety Precautions ] See:

Restraint Systems/Service Precautions.

‹› Before handling pyrotechnic components (for example, disconnecting the electrical connector), the person handling it must "discharge

static electricity". This can be done by touching door striker, for example.

Remove front seat:

‹› Standard and Sport Manual Seat. Refer to => [ Manual Standard Front Seats ].

‹› Standard seat, Sport seat (power) and Comfort seat. Refer to => [ Power Standard Front Seats ] See: Service and Repair/Overhaul/Power Standard

Front Seat with or without Memory Function.

Attach front seat to Fixture For Seat Repair ( VAS 6136). Refer to => [ Front Seat, Installing on VAS 6136 ] See: Service and Repair/Removal
and Replacement/Seat Versions Overview.

Remove tunnel side trim panel. Refer to => [ Tunnel Side Trim ].

Remove tunnel side trim panel:

‹› Standard and Sport Manual Seat. Refer to => [ Sill Side Trim ].

‹› Standard seat, Sport seat (power) and Comfort seat. Refer to => [ Sill Side Trim ] See: Service and Repair/Overhaul/Power Standard Front Seat

with or without Memory Function.

Using the trim removal wedge (3409), unclip the wiring harness - 1 - in the corrugated tube -  2 - at the bottom side of the seat pan and remove the
wiring bracket.
