Heat Exchanger

Heat Exchanger

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

‹› Hose Clamps Up To dia. 25 Mm (3094) or hose clamps up to dia. 40 mm (3093)

‹› Commercial compressed-air gun with rubber end piece

‹› Cooling System Tester (V.A.G 1274) (and corresponding adapter)

‹› Due to space limitation when the instrument panel is installed, it is not possible to reinstall the factory-installed heat exchanger and clamps -  B -

and - C -. If a factory installed heat exchanger must be reinstalled, remove the instrument panel and the air guide leading to the "Defrost" vent.
Install the O-ring seals, lightly coated with coolant, (as described for installing an exchange part - heat exchanger) on the coolant pipes - D - and - 
E - , and press the coolant pipes - D - and - E - (with the O-ring seals) from the top into the connections on the heat exchanger -  A -. Hold the
coolant pipes - D - and - E - in the heat exchanger and install the clamps - B - and -  C -. Further assembly is performed as described for installing
a replacement part - heat exchanger.

Removing

Perform the preparation work for removing the heat exchanger. Refer to=> [ Heat Exchanger, Preparing for Removal ] See: Service and

Release pressure in cooling circuit by opening cap on coolant expansion tank.

Mark the arrangement of coolant hoses - A - (supply to Cylinder head) and - B - (return to water pump).
