Instrument Panel Control Module: Service and Repair

Instrument Cluster and Control Module

‹› Do not disassemble instrument cluster.

‹› It is not necessary to remove the steering wheel in order to remove the instrument cluster.

Removing

-

If the instrument cluster with the instrument cluster control module (J285) was replaced, select "Replace" function for the corresponding control
module in the "Guided Fault Finding" or " Guided Functions" operating mode.

Select the function or path:

-

Follow further instructions on display of (VAS 5051B).

Adjust steering wheel downward and to rear as far as possible, use entire adjustment range of steering column adjustment for this.

-

Switch off ignition and remove ignition key.

-

Remove gap cover.

-

Place gap cover on upper steering column trim.

-

Remove left instrument panel vent.

-

Remove MMI screen cover. 

-

Remove bolts - arrows -.

-

Pull instrument cluster - 1 - out until it lies on steering wheel.

-

Disconnect electrical connector.

-

To disconnect electrical connector, press catch - 1 -, turn retaining bracket in direction of - arrow - and remove connector.
