‹› Follow the safety precautions for front side airbag crash sensors (pressure sensors). Refer to => [ Front Side Airbag Crash Sensor

Safety Precautions ] See: Service Precautions.

‹› Before handling pyrotechnic components (for example, connecting the electrical connector), the person handling it must "discharge

static electricity". This can be done by touching door striker, for example. 

Installation is performed in reverse order of removal, noting the following:

‹› Ensure that electrical connections are pushed in as far as stop and engage with a click.

‹› For proper crash sensor (pressure sensor) function, ensure door does not leak.

‹› All components (for example, cover, speaker, door trim) must be installed correctly.

‹› The door trim clips seal the system. Replace the clips if necessary. 

‹› Ensure wires are not pinched.

CAUTION!
Ignition must be on when connecting battery. If pyrotechnic components (for example, airbag, belt tensioner) are not repaired correctly,
they may deploy unintentionally after connecting battery. There must not be anyone inside the vehicle when connecting the battery.

Disconnect the battery ground wire with the ignition switched on. 

‹› If Airbag Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) (K75) indicates a fault after installation, DTC memory must be checked, deleted and checked again.

Removing

CAUTION!
Follow the safety precautions for pyrotechnic components. Refer to => [ Restraint System Components Safety Precautions ] See: Service
Precautions.

Switch the ignition on.

Disconnect the battery ground cable with the ignition switched on.

Remove the rear side airbag. Refer to => [ Rear Driver Side Airbag Igniter or Rear Passenger Side Airbag Igniter ] See: Air Bag Systems/Air
Bag/Service and Repair/Removal and Replacement/Side Airbags.

Remove the side padding. Refer to => [ Side Upholstery ] See: Body and Frame/Seats/Service and Repair/Overhaul/Rear Seats.
