Rear Flange Shaft Seal Replacement

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

‹› Pressure plate (VW 401)

‹› Pressure plate (VW 402)

‹› Punch (VW 409)

‹› Punch (VW 412)

‹› Base block (VW 441)

‹› Thrust piece (T40190)

Procedure

-

Remove center differential housing. Refer to => [ Center Differential Housing, Transmission Installed ] See: Differential Assembly/Service and
Repair/0B6A (6-Speed Automatic Transmission)/Center Differential Housing, Transmission Installed.

Remove circlip - arrow - on the inside of the housing. 

‹› The circlip secures the flange shaft to the bearing in the housing.

Remove flange shaft - A - from the center differential housing using the punch (VW 409). To do this, place the housing on the pressure plate (VW
401) and pressure plate (VW 402).
