Rear Cross-Member: Service and Repair

CAUTION: Welding and/or straightening operations on the subframe are not permitted.

Subframe
-
Tighten mounting bolts -4- in the following order:
1. Rear right
2. Rear left
3. Front right
4. Front left
-After removing and installing, check rear axle alignment. See: Maintenance/Alignment/Service and Repair

Subframe Bushings
-
Removing, front, refer to Fig. 1 below.

Installing, front, refer to Fig. 2 below.
-
Removing, rear, refer to Fig. 3 below.
-
Installing, rear, refer to Fig. 4 below.

Installation position of bushings in subframe, refer to Fig. 5 below.
NOTE: Treat with an 1% solution of Turkey red oil, or equivalent, before installing.

Ribbed side faces up

Hex Bolt + Washer

Always replace

Tighten to: 110 Nm (81 ft. lbs.) plus additional 1/4-turn (90°).

Position tube tool No. 3291/4, or equivalent, (note recesses) together with threaded spindle tool No. 3291, or equivalent, at right angles to
subframe.

Fit two brass discs, with annular grooves against each other, onto threaded spindle.
