Wheel Bearing Housing, Removing and Installing

Wheel bearing housing, removing and installing

Removing
-

Remove wheel trim; pull trim cap off light-alloy wheels (puller in vehicle tool kit).

-

Unscrew hex bolt of drive axle.

-

Pay attention to work sequence, Refer to Axle Shaft Assembly, Service and Repair, Front, Drive Axles, Removing and Installing

-

Unscrew hex bolt -2-.

-

Pull wire of ABS speed sensor out of holder at wheel bearing housing.

-

Unscrew bolts -1- for brake caliper, remove brake caliper and fasten to body.

-

Unscrew bolt -5- for ABS speed sensor.

-

Unclip ABS cable from wheel bearing housing

Note:

Use binding wire to attach brake caliper to body.

^

Never leave brake caliper hanging from brake hose.

Remove brake disc.

-

Unscrew bolts -arrows- and remove shield.

-

Unscrew combi bolt -3- and bolt -4-.

Note:  Perform wheel alignment following repair work.

Pull out tie rod.

-

Unscrew nut from joint pin.

Note:

For safety reasons, screw collared nut at joint pin of guide link back on again approximately 4 turns such that it is flush.

^

Make sure that both lever arms are parallel to one another when maximum force is expended.

If necessary, support joint pin with 4 mm Allen key.
