Tripod joint AAR 3300 i, disassembling

Removing
-

Clamp drive axle horizontally into vise.

Note:

Use protective jaws.

^

Make sure the drive axle is not damaged.

Mark position of joint piece to drive axle.
If they are not marked and are not re-installed in their previously installed positions, noises may occur later during driving operation.
A water-proof felt pen is well-suited for marking.

Open tensioning clamps (arrows).

-

Slide back CV boot.

Insert T40018 special tool behind joint piece
Guide pin -1- must make contact with exterior of joint piece.

Turn knurled bolts -2- at joint piece until T40018 special tool makes contact.

Note:

Joint piece must be secured in T40018 special tool without play.

Tighten bolts -2- by hand

Thread VW771 special tool into T40018 special tool.

-

Pull off joint piece horizontally using slide hammer.
Leave joint piece in T40018 special tool.

Mark installation position of parts 1 and 2 with lines.
If they are not marked and are not re-installed in their previously installed positions, noises may occur later during driving operation.
A water-proof felt pen is well-suited for marking.

Remove grease with a lint-free rag.
