Using a screwdriver, remove the retainer bar - arrow - and Engine Control Module (ECM) J623 and position aside.

Remove the Motronic Engine Control Module (ECM) Power Supply Relay J271 - 2 - from the E-Box.

Using the Multimeter V.A.G 1526 A or equivalent, check the wiring connection from the Motronic Engine Control Module (ECM) Power Supply
Relay J271 carrier position 2, terminal 2 to the ignition coil wiring harness electrical connector terminal 1 for an open circuit.
Specified resistance 1.5 Ohms max.

If the specified value is not obtained:

Repair the wiring connection.

If no malfunctions are found in the wiring:

Connect the test box 1598/42 to the wiring harness of the Engine Control Module (ECM) J623.

Using the Test Box 105 Pin VAG1598/42 and Multimeter V.A.G 1526 A or equivalent, check the following wiring connection for an open circuit.
