Remove electrical wires with connector - arrow - from locking flange opening and lay them aside.

All:

-

Disconnect electrical harness connector - arrow - at right locking flange.

Connect hand multimeter V.A.G 1526 C between terminal - 2 - and - 3 - for resistance measurement.

NOTE:
-

If measured value is 0 Ohm there is a short circuit. If measured value is Infinity Ohm there is and open circuit in the wiring.

To check resistance values "tank full" or "tank empty" , the fuel level sensor G must be removed and the floater of the sensor must be pivoted
to the upper or lower end position.

With fuel level sensor G removed, the following values are obtained because of the greater deflection of the floater arm:
