Affected Vehicles

Condition

While closing the sunroof, the sunroof panel reverses. This generally occurs within the last few centimeters of travel.

Technical Background

A4 Avant:

Sliding pins on the glass roof panel do not enter the guide plate in the roof frame smoothly. The pinch protection system then intervenes.

A4 Sedan:

Sunroof motor software causing incorrect pinch activation.

Production Solution

Modified guide plate and change in sunroof motor software.

Service

Service procedure for A4 Avant:

1. Completely open the sunroof panel.
2. Locate the guide as shown in Figure 1. Bevel the edge of the entry rib with a file. Make certain that any filings are contained and removed from the

frame area. Do not remove the material any further than the first rib.
