Engine Oil Pressure: Testing and Inspection

Oil Pressure, Checking

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

‹› Oil Pressure Gauge (V.A.G 1342)

Test Prerequisites

‹› Oil level OK

‹› Engine oil temperature at least 80 °C (radiator fan must start up once).

Test Sequence

‹› Place a cloth under the accessory assembly bracket to collect leaking engine oil.

Disconnect electrical connector - 4 - on the Reduced Oil Pressure Switch (F378).

Remove Reduced Oil Pressure Switch (F378) - 3 -.

Screw Oil Pressure Gauge (V.A.G 1342) into the oil filter bracket in place of the oil pressure switch.

Install the Reduced Oil Pressure Switch (F378 ) in the Oil Pressure Switch (V.A.G 1342).

Start engine.

‹› Oil pressure at idle: 1.2 to 2.1 bar.

‹› Oil pressure at 2000 RPM: 1.6 to 2.1 bar positive pressure.

‹› Oil pressure at 3700 RPM: 3.0 to 4.0 bar positive pressure.

‹› During the first 1000 km, the oil pressure may be at 2000/min at 3.0 to 4.0 bar.

Assembling

‹› Tightening specifications. Refer to => [ Oil Filter and Oil Cooler Assembly Overview ] See: Oil Cooler/Service and Repair/Oil Filter and Oil

Cooler Assembly Overview.

Install oil pressure switch.
