Refrigerant Oil: Description and Operation

Refrigerant (PAG) Oil, System Capacity

PAG oil (polyalcylene glycol) absorbs moisture very rapidly. Always use specified PAG oil from sealed container and always re-seal container
immediately after use.

PAG oil from a container that has been left open for some time is no longer usable.

The manufacturer for Nippondenso compressors has changed its name to "Denso".

The refrigerant oil capacity for a replacement compressor represents the total refrigerant oil capacity of the refrigerant system. When installing a
replacement compressor, it is necessary to compensate for the amount of refrigerant remaining in the system (compressor removed) by draining a
certain amount of oil from the replacement compressor.

When pouring out refrigerant oil from the replacement or faulty compressor, a small amount of oil remains in the compressor, about 20 to 30
cu.cm (1.2 to 1.8 cu.in). This amount of oil does not impair the function of the A/C system and does not need to be considered.

When A/C is switched on for the first time, the refrigerant oil is distributed throughout the entire system.

When replacing A/C system components, add appropriate amount of refrigerant oil to component.
