Press joint pin of guide link off taper seat.
Take care not to damage boot when doing so.
For vehicles with headlight range control, Refer to Lighting and Horns, Head Lamp Alignment Sensor, Service and Repair.

Note:

For safety reasons, screw collared nut at joint pin of track control link back on again approximately 4 turns such that it is flush.

Make sure that both lever arms are parallel to one another when maximum force is expended.

Press joint pin of track control link off tapered seat.

Unfasten nut -1-, take out hex bolt and pull out both links -2- upward.

Note:  Never widen slots in wheel bearing housing using a chisel or the like.

Swivel wheel bearing housing aside in direction of arrow and in doing so pull drive axle journal out of wheel hub.

-

Fasten drive axle to body, e.g. with wire.

-

Unscrew nut from joint pin of track control link.

-

Take out wheel bearing housing.

Installing
-

Insert wheel bearing housing.

-

Slip outer joint of drive axle into wheel hub and hand-tighten new hex bolt.

-

Insert joint pins of track control link and guide link in wheel bearing housing.

-

Screw on new self-locking nuts and tighten to 125 Nm.
If necessary, support joint pin with 4 mm Allen key.

Insert both joint pins of upper links in wheel bearing housing.

Tighten new self-locking nuts -1- to 40 Nm.

Press down upper links as far as possible while screwing nuts.

Install tie rod.
-

Screw on new self-locking nut -4- and tighten to 50 Nm.

-

Tighten hex bolt -3- to maximum 7 Nm.

Install ABS speed sensor.
