Wheel bearing housing with bolted wheel bearing, servicing

1. Wheel bearing housing
2. Cap screws 80 Nm plus additional 90° turn
3. Bushings
4. Ball bearing

Pressing out 75 mm dia. - Go to Fig. 1

Pressing out 82 mm dia. - Go to Fig. 2

Pressing in 75 mm dia. - Go to Fig. 4

^

Pressing in 82 mm dia. - Go to Fig. 5

Pressing out bearing inner race - Go to Fig. 3

Installation position:

^

Large ID of wheel bearing faces wheel hub

Pressing out - Go to Fig. 1 and Fig. 2

Pulling off bearing inner race - Go to Fig. 3

Stepped design

^

Contact surface for wheel hub/brake disc and tapped holes must be free from paint and dirt

Removing
-

Remove wheel trim; pull trim cap off light-alloy wheels (puller in vehicle tool kit).

-

Unscrew hex bolt of drive axle. (Only unscrew bolt if vehicle is standing on wheels -danger of accident-).

-

Remove wheel.

-

Secure brake disc with wheel bolt.

-

Unscrew hex bolt -2-.

-

Pull wire of ABS speed sensor out of holder at wheel bearing housing.

Unscrew bolts -1- of brake caliper, remove brake caliper and fasten to body.

-

Unscrew bolt -5- for ABS speed sensor.
