Unscrew bolts -arrows C- and then remove ashtray -2- from center console.

Lift damping washer -1- and noise insulation -2- upward and out.

Unscrew noise insulation for gear shift housing -arrows-.

-

Measure distance -a- between the two studs in shift mechanism

Note:  Measure from center of stud to center of stud.

Specification: Dimension a = 85 mm

If this is not the case, produce distance -a- as follows:

Loosen bolt (arrow) for push rod.

Rear push rod (in shift mechanism) must move easily backward and forward on the slider

-

Adjust dimension -a- by moving rear push rod (in shift mechanism).

-

Tighten bolt for push rod -arrow- to 25 Nm.
