Shift Interlock Cable: Service and Repair

Locking cable, removing and installing, 09L, 6 Spd. A/T AWD

Removing

Note:

The locking cable must not be bent or kinked.

Shift selector lever to position "S".

CAUTION:  Follow steps required when disconnecting battery.

With ignition switched off, disconnect battery Ground (GND) strap.

-

Remove storage compartment on drivers side.

-

Remove steering column cover.

-

Remove A/C control console.

-

Remove ashtray from center console.

-

Remove selector mechanism cover.

-

Turn ignition key to ignition on position.

-

Shift selector lever to position "P".

1 - Locking cable

Lift up retaining clip - 2 - on locking device and pull locking rod - 1 - off starter switch.

Lift up locking cable securing spring - 4 -. Pull locking cable support bracket - 5 - sideways off selector mechanism, then disengage locking
cable eye.
